Lee Geun-seok (born January 17, 1917 in Heiannan- do , then the Japanese Empire , now North Korea , † July 4, 1950 in Anyang , Gyeonggi-do , South Korea ) was a brigadier general of the Air Force of South Korea during the Korean War .

Lee Geun-seok was one of the fathers of the independent South Korean Air Force and a military pilot during the Korean War . When the engine of his plane was hit by enemy fire on July 4, 1950, he went straight into a North Korean tank and died.
