Lee So-young

Lee So-young ( Korean : 이소영; Hanja : 李素永; born February 10, 1985 ) is a South Korean politician and lawyer .

Life

After passing the law state examination in 2009 and then graduating from the Judicial Research and Training Institute after three years, she worked as a lawyer specializing in environmental law at the Kim & Chang law firm in Seoul . After five years, she left the law firm and founded a non-governmental organization dedicated to environmental issues. In 2018 she coordinated the "coal finance" movement together with other civil organizations, thereby getting some public funds out of coal-related projects. She advised the presidential National Council on Climate Change and Air Quality, the National Committee for Green Growth and the Ministry of Trade , Industry and Renewable Energy .

She ran for the ruling Joint Democratic Party in the parliamentary elections in South Korea in 2020 and prevailed against two former mayors in Uiwang and Gwacheon . After the election victory, she became deputy parliamentary group leader .
