Leesburg is a village in Highland County , Ohio , United States . At the 2000 census, the place had 1,253 inhabitants, 98.5% were white.
history
Leesburg was founded in 1801 by Nathanial Pope, John Walters and John Howard. Meetings of the Quakers in Leesburg can be traced back to 1802 . A sawmill was built in 1806 and a hotel in 1814. With Dr. Havilah Beardsley first had a doctor in Leesburg in 1816. In 1830 a steam mill was built in Leesburg. In 1841 there were sermons by the Baptists . From 1852 Methodists and in 1879 Seventh-day Adventists also settled in the place. In 1867 two school houses were built. The Leesburg Bank was founded in 1876 .
