Legends is a studio album that the two blues legends, pianist Pinetop Perkins and guitarist Hubert Sumlin , recorded for Telarc in 1998.
General
The two musicians had known each other for a long time, as they were band members of Muddy Waters and Howlin 'Wolf , both of whom were under contract with Chess , in the 1950s . But it wasn't until the 1980s that they performed together and a friendship developed on the tour. Nevertheless, this work is the first joint studio work. The harmonica was played by Annie Raines , who herself has already had a remarkable career as a blues musician.
In addition to blues classics ("Rock Me Baby", "Shame, Shame, Shame"), the album contains a number of new songs such as "Sunnyland Slim", a homage to the blues pianist Sunnyland Slim .
The album was nominated for the Grammy 2000 for best traditional blues album.
