Legends of the Storm - The Secret of the Golden Age (also Georgian Legend ) is the name of a dance show by the Georgian National Song and Dance Ensemble Erisioni from Tbilisi . It was the first dance theater to bring dances and melodies from the Caucasus to the USA and Western Europe .

The stage show is based on the history of Georgia and tells of a people who had to defend their identity against innumerable foreign invasion attempts. According to the genre , the diverse culture of the Caucasus is presented through music and dance.

The idea for the project arose in 1999 from a collaboration between the American producer Jim Lowe and the French stage director Pascal Jourdan with the Erisoni Ensemble in the Georgian capital Tbilisi . The show was first performed in the USA, followed by performances in France in Switzerland and Belgium from 2001 to 2002, and in China in 2007 in Cologne, Dresden and in Martinik. Over 150,000 people have now seen the musical. The DVD for the show has been sold over 100,000 times worldwide.

The early form of Georgian polyphony used in the performance is unique in musical history and developed independently of Western tradition. In addition, instruments such as Panduri , Doli , Salamuri , Duduki , Tschiboni , Tschonguri and percussion are used.

The Georgian dances listed represent the life of the country. The dancers appear in traditional Georgian costumes such as the chocha , and dance with lace boots made of soft leather. Dschemal Tschkuaseli is responsible for the overall artistic direction and Rowas Tschochoneidze for the choreography .
