The Leichhardt Range is a mountain range in Queensland in Australia , which is about 960 kilometers northwest of Brisbane . The range rises from Mackay . The ridge is named after the Prussian explorer Ludwig Leichhardt .
The ridge runs parallel to the coast and extends over 170 kilometers with an average height of 355 meters.
The Bowen Developmental Road crosses the ridge. The Bowen River flows into the Burdekin River at the eastern edge of the Leichhardt Range and the Kirk River rises north and the Sellheim River southeast of the ridge.
