Leila Ivonne Juez de Baki (born February 23, 1951 in Guayaquil ) is an Ecuadorian politician and diplomat .

Life

Leila Juez received her doctorate in public administration in 1993 . She was Honorary Consul in Lebanon from 1984 to 1990 and Honorary Consul in Boston from 1992 to 1998 . In 1998 she became an advisor to President Jamil Mahuad , who signed the peace treaty on the border war with Peru . She was Ambassador to the United States from 1998 to 2002 , President of the Andean Commission from 2003 to 2004 , Minister for Trade, Fisheries and Competition from 2003 to 2006, Member of the Andean Parliament from 2006 to 2010 and Chairwoman of it in 2007.
