A bar is a narrow, mostly long component made of wood, metal, plastic or other material, which, in contrast to a lath , usually only has a decorative function.

Moldings are often attached to the wall to cover the gap to the floor , wall paneling  or ceiling cladding . Skirting boards also serve to protect the wall from dirt and knocks from brooms , scrubbing rags or chair legs.

Special bars are those

  • Footer , even sweeping bar , skirting board or baseboard , in Austria also chair bar
  • Ceiling molding
  • Trim
  • Cover strip , for example between the boards of a strip formwork

use

Moldings often cover joints or serve purely decorative purposes.

Skirting and ceiling strips are usually made of wood , plastic or wood fiber materials such as MDF . They are manufactured in different versions. In addition to strips with externally visible screw heads, there are also plug strips that can be attached to a previously attached holding device with light pressure. Hollow strips can also be used as cable ducts or heating strips .

Moldings

Decorative strips are used for decoration . In addition to wooden strips in furniture construction and interior design, metal and plastic strips are also used in motor vehicles and trailers. The latter serve as a design element to decorate door inserts.
