Lelitz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lelitz was a village near Koethen . The village of Slavic origin was first mentioned in 1145 as Lelice . At that time the village was owned by the Nienburg monastery . A mention in 1205 mentions Lielice as a name. In 1512 Lelitz is described as desolate , but the village has probably been so for several years. Details of the settlement are not known. Presumably it consisted of 8 to 16 houses, which can be traced back to the size of the village and the cultivated fields (11.5 to 12 hooves ) as well as the amount of the taxes to be paid (2.5 bison grain).

The exact location of the village is not certain. Lelitz was to the west or west-southwest of what was then Köthen.

The Lelitzer Straße in the new development area of Rüsternbreite in Köthen or in Geuz is named after Lelitz.
