Lehelitz is a district of the municipality of Krostitz in the Saxon district of North Saxony in Germany .

geography

Lehelitz is located north of the main town Krostitz between the cities of Eilenburg and Delitzsch . The place is not on a classified road, but there are local connections to Krostitz and to Bundesstraße 2 , which leads past the place to the west. In the corridor of Lehelitz lies the Seereisen deserted area .

history

Lehelitz is a street village in terms of the type of settlement . The place belonged to the electoral office of Delitzsch until 1815 . He came to Prussia through the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna and in 1816 was assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Merseburg administrative district of the province of Saxony , to which he belonged until 1952.

On July 1, 1950, the rural community of Lehelitz was incorporated into Krostitz and has been part of the community ever since. In the course of the district reform in the GDR in 1952, Krostitz and Lehelitz were assigned to the newly tailored Delitzsch district in the Leipzig district, which was added to the Delitzsch district in 1994 .

In 1966 the Catholic Church "Maria Königin" was built and on October 8, 1967 it was consecrated by Auxiliary Bishop Friedrich Maria Rintelen . From November 1, 2007, the Lehelitz Curate belonged to the Bad Düben - Delitzsch - Eilenburg - Löbnitz - Lehelitz community that was founded at the time , from which today's Parish Delitzsch emerged in May 2010. On October 8, 2011, the church was closed again and the building was sold to private customers.

The population of Lehelitz was a little over 100 in 1818. In 1895 there was a small difference with 149. Until the outbreak of the Second World War , the population rose to almost 140. After the end of the war, the population rose sharply. In 1946 just over 200 people lived in Lehelitz.

Culture

Every year on the first weekend in July, a folk festival called Lechelzer Abbels , the Lehelitz indulgence market, takes place in Lehelitz . This custom goes back to a legend from the 14th century.
