Friedrich Maria Rintelen (born December 12, 1899 in Ahlen / Westphalia, † November 9, 1988 in Paderborn ) was a Roman Catholic theologian and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Paderborn .

Life

Rintelen passed his Abitur in 1919 at the Hammonense grammar school in Hamm / Westf. and was on January 13, 1924 in Paderborn for priests ordained . He was then vicar in Egeln for three years , received his doctorate in theology in 1934, was appointed pastor at the Marktkirche in Paderborn in 1939 and in 1941 was appointed vicar general by Lorenz Jaeger . On December 12, 1951, he was by Pope Pius XII. appointed auxiliary bishop based in Magdeburg and titular bishop of Chusira . The Archbishop of Paderborn and later Cardinal Lorenz Jaeger donated him the episcopal ordination on January 24, 1952 in Magdeburg. Co- consecrators were the Paderborn auxiliary bishop Augustinus Philipp Baumann and his predecessor in office, Bishop Wilhelm Weskamm of Berlin .

The area of ​​today's diocese of Magdeburg in the GDR became his main sphere of activity . Rintelen retired on August 15, 1970. His successor as archbishop commissioner in Magdeburg was Johannes Braun , who was consecrated by him . Rintelen died in 1988 at the age of 88 and was buried in the chapter cemetery in Paderborn.
