Zschölkau is a district of the municipality of Krostitz in the Saxon district of North Saxony in Germany .

geography

Zschölkau is located southwest of the main town Krostitz in the triangle between the cities of Leipzig , Eilenburg and Delitzsch on Bundesstraße 2 . There is a local connection to Rackwitz . South of Zschölkau is the Autobahn 14 with the Leipzig-Mitte junction .

history

In terms of the type of settlement, Zschölkau is a narrow street . The place belonged to the electoral office of Delitzsch until 1815 . As a result of the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , the place became part of Prussia and was assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Merseburg administrative district of the province of Saxony in 1816, to which it belonged until 1952. On July 1, 1950, the town of Hohenossig was incorporated into Zschölkau. In the course of the district reform in the GDR in 1952, Zschölkau and Hohenossig were assigned to the newly tailored Delitzsch district in the Leipzig district, which was added to the Delitzsch district in 1994 . From 1994 to 1998 Zschölkau formed an independent community with Kletzen . Since January 1st, 1999, Zschölkau has been part of the Krostitz community.

The population of Zschölkau was just over 150 in 1818. Until the outbreak of the Second World War , the population increased by about double to 287 in 1939. After the end of the war, the population continued to rise. In 1946 there were 485 residents in Zschölkau, four years later the number had risen to 875. During the times of the GDR , the number of inhabitants decreased again continuously. In 1990 there were still 536 people living in Zschölkau.
