Marko Demantowsky (* 1970 in Leipzig ) is a German historian, history educator and public historian.

Life

Marko Demantowsky has been Professor of Modern / Contemporary History and its Didactics at the FHNW University of Education since 2012 , at the same time head of the Department for Didactics of Social Sciences and its disciplines and has been a member of the Institute for Educational Sciences at the University of Basel since 2015 . Before that, he had been a junior professor for history didactics at the Ruhr University in Bochum and as a substitute professor at the universities of Jena and Siegen . He was previously a research assistant at the universities of Leipzig , Dortmund and Münster . His publications focus on questions of digital change in history, history teaching and public history , informal historical learning, and the theory and history of historical education and historiography . In addition to the academic work, there is also a journalistic activity.

Marko Demantowsky has played a key role in setting up multilingual infrastructures in the field of digital history, namely the Didacticorum Index , the international web magazine Public History Weekly and the history talk in the Super7000 (GTS7000). He blogs privately under my paralipomena .
