Lena Liepe (* 1962 ) is a Swedish art historian who has been a professor at Linné University in Sweden since 2017 .

Live and act

Liepe previously worked at the universities of Lund , Tromsø and Oslo . Her research interests are medieval fine arts and architecture in Northern Europe , art theory and methodology , gender perspective on medieval art and medieval Icelandic illustrated manuscripts .

She is a member of the scientific society in Lund (Vetenskapssocieteten i Lund), the Norwegian Academy of Sciences (Det Norske Videnskapsakademiet), the International Center for Medieval Art (ICMA) and the Swedish Art Critic Society (Svenska konstkritikersamfundet). She has received two of the largest awards in the Nordic region for humanistic research: the 2016 award from Jarl Gallén for “an excellent Nordic medieval historian” and the 2019 award from Gad Rausing for “her groundbreaking and profound studies of Nordic medieval art”.
