Lenka Vaňková (born September 17, 1956 in Orlová ) is a Czech Germanist and linguist, head of the Chair for German Studies at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Ostrava (German: University of Ostrava ), President of the German Association of the Czech Republic and a member of the Institute for the German Language (IDS) in Mannheim.

Life

Lenka Vaňková studied German and Russian studies at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Brno (Brno). Since 1999 she has been head of the Department of German Studies at the University of Ostrava. In 2002 she qualified as a professor at the Faculty II of the University of Würzburg and in 2004 she completed the habilitation procedure at the Philosophical Faculty of Palacky University Olomouc ( Olomouc ). From 2003 to 2005 she worked as Vice Dean for Foreign Relations and Development at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Ostrava. In 2010 she was appointed professor for the German language department. In 2014 she became a member of the International Scientific Council at the Institute for the German Language (IDS) in Mannheim.

Lenka Vaňková is married and has two daughters.

Research priorities

Lenka Vaňková has been the director of the Center for Specialized Language Research (ZfF) at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Ostrava since 2011 . She looks after young academics and is successful in the field of international cooperation. It is in the professional community u. A. became known through the transcription and language analysis of numerous German medieval and early New High German medical manuscripts.
