Lennart Casper Ehrenborg (born June 1, 1923 in Stockholm , Sweden ; † December 8, 2017 there ) was a Swedish film producer , screenwriter and film director for documentaries .

Live and act

Ehrenborg joined film shortly after World War II after completing his studies and wrote his first screenplay at the age of 24. In the early 1950s, Ehrenborg's first documentary film directors followed, which took him to the Far East. Lennart Ehrenborg has only been a regular filmmaker since 1962; until the end of the decade he directed and / or produced a wealth of documentaries, mostly on behalf of Sveriges Radio AB and / or the Swedish Film Institute. These works dealt with Swedish topics (e.g. Portraitt av Åsa and Sveriges ansigte ), but also dealt with distant regions (e.g. Abu Simbel: tempel som räddats ).

In 1969 and 1970 Ehrenborg documented Thor Heyerdahl's two-part journey with the papyrus boat Ra from the coast of Morocco to Barbados in the Caribbean . This Norwegian-Swedish co-production premiered in two parts on German television (presumably) in April 1971 and earned both Heyerdahl and Ehrenborg an Oscar nomination in 1972 in the category of best full-length documentary. In the same year, Ra was also launched in the USA and in the production country Norway. Despite this great success, Lennart Ehrenborg was only able to make a few films, most recently another cooperation with Heyerdahl about the reed boat "Tigris". Lennart Ehrenborg died at the old age of 94.
