Lenny Boyd

Lenny Boyd ( 1934 - June 6, 2015 ) was a Canadian jazz musician ( double bass ) who was active in the Toronto music scene .

Live and act

Lenny Boyd began his career in the Toronto jazz scene in the 1950s; for the following decade he took classes with Ray Brown at the Advanced School of Contemporary Music organized by Oscar Peterson , Phil Nimmons and other musicians. During this time he played with Bud Powell and Elvin Jones, among others . In 1967, during the Expo 67 recordings with Ron Collier and under his own name with Duke Ellington as a guest soloist (North of the Border in Canada) . From 1974 he taught in the jazz program at Humber College . In later years he played in the trio of pianist and singer Dave Thompson with Don Vickery (drums). In the field of jazz he was involved in six recording sessions between 1967 and 1975, most recently with Fred Stone and Al Michalek.
