Lenore Smith

Lenore Smith (born October 25, 1958 in Balmain , Sydney ) is an Australian actress . In Germany, she became known for her role as the nurse Kate Wellings in the series The Flying Doctors .

She has two younger siblings, Linda and Neil.

Lenore began her business studies at the age of 17. But she gave it up in favor of an artistic career and then took acting classes after a professor told her that the prospects for a job were poor.

After two and a half years of classes, she got her first leading role in The Restless Years . After that, she kept her head above water with commercials and smaller roles. In the early 1980s she moved to London. She actually only wanted to visit her sister, but then stayed a full year and worked as a waitress. There she got the telegram in which she was invited to a casting for the flying doctors . She played the role of Kate Wellings for six years, which made her a popular series actress in Australia. In 1988 she received the Penguin Award for Best Actress in a Series.

After that, it became quieter around her professionally. She played a few minor roles in series and appeared in the theater. Her last appearance was in 2002 as a guest star on the series Farscape as Lt. Darinta Larell.

She is no longer an actress at the moment, but took up a position as personal assistant to the Mayor of Sydney in 2004 .

Lenore Smith was married three times. In 1981 she married actor Gary Sweet . The marriage lasted only 18 months. During a bomb alarm in Sydney, she met the actor Matt Kay and married him in 1985. Matt Kay can be seen in the series The Flying Doctors as a flying postman. After five years, the marriage fell apart. During the filming of the series, Lenore tied up with her colleague Christopher Stollery . They did not get married, but lived together in Sydney until 1993. In 1997 Lenore married the third time. She is still in a relationship with actor Warren Jones .
