Lenorenwald (November 2015)

The Lenorenwald is a landscape protection area in the area of the communities Kalkhorst and Roggenstorf and the city of Klütz in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

The 2600 ha area, which was designated in 2001, extends east and south of the core town of Kalkhorst. The 33 hectare nature reserve Pohnstorfer Moor is directly connected to the south .

The high soil credit rating led to an almost complete deforestation of the Klützer Winkel . The Lenorenwald is the last remaining and by far the largest closed forest area of the Klützer Winkel, as it was not suitable for conversion into agricultural land with its predominantly boggy and moist locations. It is located south of the Hohen Schönberg towards Klütz and is known for two quite unusual trees: two large North American sequoias stand in the forest, completely alien to their species, and represent something of a landmark alongside barrows and Wendish castle walls.
