Leo Kakolewicz (* 9. January 1950 in Poland ) is a former German boxer in light heavyweight .
Life
Kakolewicz, who boxed as an amateur for the Neuköllner Sportfreunde , was trained by Werner Papke as a teenager . In March 1973 he fought his first fight as a professional boxer. After ten wins in a row, Kakolewicz lost for the first time in May 1974 when he lost to Lothar Stengel in the Berlin Deutschlandhalle . In April 1975 Kakolewicz got the opportunity to box in Hamburg against Karl-Heinz Klein for the German light heavyweight championship. Kakolewicz, who went into the fight as an outsider, knocked his opponent to the ground with a right hook after only eleven seconds of the first round and thus surprisingly became German champion. “It's been like this many times. Whenever someone copied me, I taught my critics better ”, Kakolewicz was reproduced by the Hamburger Abendblatt after winning the title .
In mid-May 1976 he competed in Rome against European champion Domenico Adinolfi, but lost in front of 7,000 spectators when the referee broke off the fight in the eighth round due to Kakolewicz's incapacity. However, he did not go down. From the sixth round, the Berliner was clearly battered after his opponent had scored several impact hits. Around five months later he defended his German championship title against Karsten Honhold in Hamburg . Kakolewicz ended his career as a professional boxer in May 1978.
