Leo Lukas (politician)

Leo Lukas (born August 15, 1908 in Klagenfurt ; † October 1, 1979 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). He was a member of the National Council for eight years .

Leo Lukas attended the elementary and community school in Klagenfurt before he trained as a teacher at the teacher training institute there. In this profession he worked in various places in Carinthia before he became principal school director in 1949 and finally district school inspector in 1951 .

Political offices

Lukas devoted himself to politics from an early age and was a member of the Weißenstein municipal council until 1934 . After the civil war and the associated ban on the Social Democratic Workers' Party, Lukas initially withdrew from politics.

After the end of the Second World War , Lukas became politically active again and was a member of the Klagenfurt municipal council from 1948 to 1953 before he moved into the Carinthian state parliament. After the National Council election in 1966 , he gave up his state parliament mandate and was a member of the National Council until 1974 , when he resigned during the legislative period.

Lukas worked for many years as Vice President of the Working Group for Sport and Physical Culture in Carinthia, Deputy District Chairman of the SPÖ in Klagenfurt and on the board of the Socialist Teachers' Association.
