from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Leo Seidel (* 1977 in Berlin ) is a German photographer and photo designer .

Life

Seidel was born in East Berlin as the son of a sculptor and a historian . Between 1999 and 2002 he completed an apprenticeship as a photo designer with a state-recognized degree at the Lette-Verein Berlin. Seidel has been an archive photographer at OSTKREUZ Agency of Photographers since June 2004 and works freelance for publishers, magazines and agencies. Seidel works a. a. for the Tagesspiegel , the Frankfurter Zeitung and the time as well as the magazines Elle and Schöner live with images.

The focus of his photography is the architecture of old and new buildings in the urban fabric. In this area, Leo Seidel has now specialized in night photography: the play with light, for example on large buildings such as stadiums and arenas, as well as on water and streets, is what particularly appeals to the photographer.

Seidel mainly works with analog photography, which he prefers to digital, and mainly with a 4 × 5 inch plate camera . Travel photography is increasingly joining the topics mentioned. Destinations are, for example, Ireland, Scotland with landscape photography and, as a contrast, large cities in Europe. In cooperation with the former director of the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Hans-Joachim Giersberg and the current one, Hartmut Dorgerloh , the book Preussens Glanz was created . The picture and text volume Brandenburgische Dorfkirchen und their Guardians was created in collaboration with Kara Huber as editor.
