Leon Kobrin
Leon Kobrin , actually Lew Kobrin (born 1873 in Vitebsk ; died 1946 ) was a Yiddish writer, translator and journalist in New York .
Life
Lev Kobrin was born into a Jewish family in Vitebsk. In 1892 he went to the USA, first to Philadelphia, then to New York. He began to write for Yiddish newspapers as a journalist, wrote short stories and first plays.
In 1899 he wrote the play Minna with Jacob Gordin . About 30 more pieces followed, as well as short stories and short stories. Leon Kobrin translated numerous texts by authors such as Maupassant , Zola , as well as by Gorky , Tolstoy , Dostoyevsky and Chekhov into Yiddish.
He died in 1946.
