Leonhard Scheuch

Leonhard Scheuch (born May 21, 1938 in Winterthur ) is a Swiss - German music publisher. Together with his wife Barbara Scheuch-Vötterle, he runs the Bärenreiter-Verlag , which was founded by their father Karl Vötterle .

After studying theater studies at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and the University of Vienna , Scheuch initially completed internships in the field of opera directing in Berlin , Hamburg and Munich . 1969–1976 he worked as a dramaturge at the Zurich Opera House . Scheuch has been one of the managing directors of Bärenreiter Verlag since 1976. In 1991, as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bärenreiter-Verlag Basel AG, he founded a subsidiary in Prague , which privatized the former Czechoslovak state publisher Editio Supraphon and has been operating as Editio Bärenreiter Praha (now Bärenreiter Praha ) since 1998 .

His commitment is primarily to contemporary music. In addition to his work as a board member of the Bärenreiter publishing house, he is also a board member of the friends' association of the Kassel State Orchestra.
