Leopold Esterle
Leopold Esterle (born November 14, 1898 , † December 19, 1967 in Vienna ) was an Austrian stage and film actor .
Live and act
After a one-off season (1933/34) at the Berlin theater in the German capital, Esterle had made a name for himself over many years as a performer on peasant stages and performed in this area in the 1930s (Schlierseer Bauerntheater) and 1940s (Exl-Bühne Vienna ) and 1950s (Exl-Bühne Innsbruck) at corresponding venues. In later years he also worked at Salzburg venues (1954 to 1957) and at small festival venues (Luisenburg Festival in Wunsiedel, 1959).
With Vinzenz Gellner in Hans Steinhoff's tendentious film adaptation of the novel Die Geierwally , Esterle gave a much-noticed debut in a movie in 1940 alongside Eduard Köck , like Esterle an actor in the Exl troupe. Esterle also appeared as Köck's film partner in his two subsequent peasant-alpine films about weather lights around Barbara and Der Meineidbauer . Esterle's post-war work can also be assigned to the Heimatfilm. Most recently (in the early 1960s) the artist also appeared in a few television films.
