Leptophyes is agenus of locusts from the subfamily of sickle hornets (Phaneropterinae).
features
The antennae are up to four times as long as the body. The legs are long. Most often the anterior tibes are twice as long as the pronotum . The subgenital plate of the males is long and in situ either longer or only slightly shorter than the cerci . Often times the cerci of the males are almost straight. The ovipositor is thick at its base, but suddenly compressed on the sides. It is very finely indented.
Occurrence
The range of the genus includes Europe, Asia Minor, Palestine, Shoah in Ethiopia and Kashmir.
