Les Calamités was a French rock band that was active in the 1980s .

history

Les Calamités was formed in Beaune in the early eighties . The group consisted of guitarists and singers Odile Repolt and Isabelle Petit, bassist and singer Caroline Augier, and drummer Mike Stephens.

One of the first songs from the Calamités appeared in 1983 with Je suis une calamité on the sampler Snapshot (s) . They recorded their first album at the end of 1983 in the SHD studio in Servaville, produced by Lionel Herrmani. The self-written songs were composed and written by Augier, Repolt and Petit. The album was released in 1984 under the title A Bride Abattue on the Parisian label New Rose Records . In the same year, the single Toutes Les Nuits was released as a release from the album, and the EP Pas la Peine , which was recorded in the Oncle Sam studio in Paris, also under Herrmani.

After Caroline Augier moved to London, Les Calamités continued as a duo with Odile Repolt and Isabelle Petit. Under producer Daniel Chenevez from Niagara , they recorded the song Vélomoteur in the ICP studios in Brussels . It was released as a single by Polydor in 1987 . In the spring of 1988, the song entered the French charts, where it should remain for 16 weeks, with the 13th place as the top position. As a result, the group broke up.

In 1988, New Rose published a compilation of Calamité songs under the title Les Calamités , but without the Polydor chart single Vélomoteur . This was included on the 1997 compilation C'est Complet released by New Rose's successor Last Call Records .
