With a summit height of 498 meters, Les Opies is the highest mountain in the Alpilles mountain range . It is located in the municipality of Eyguières .

geography

Les Opies is located between the towns of Aureille and Eyguières. It is located in the southeast of the Alpilles or the Alpilles Regional Nature Park . There are three ways for hikers to the summit: One begins in the center of Aureille, another on the D 25A near Aureille. These two trails come together and represent the west climb. The third trail starts near the Roquemartine castle ruins . It is the east climb to the summit. Due to the risk of fire, the ascent may be prohibited in adverse weather conditions.

etymology

The part of the name Opies is derived from Aupiho , the Provencal name of the Alpilles.
