Leslie Holdridge

Leslie Rensselaer Holdridge (born September 29, 1907 in Ledyard , Connecticut , USA , † June 19, 1999 in Easton , Maryland , USA) was an American botanist and climatologist . He worked in Costa Rica as a tropical forest researcher and created a classification scheme for climate and vegetation zones, which he himself referred to as "Life Zones".

He is the father of the American composer Lee Holdridge .
