The US -American state of North Dakota 's 53 counties divided.

The official abbreviation for North Dakota is ND and the FIPS code is 38 . The FIPS code of each individual county always starts with 38 , followed by the three-digit number given in the table for each county.

The population figures shown in the table are based on the results of the 2010 census .
