List of counties in Montana
This is the list of the 56 counties in the US state of Montana . Montana has two city counties that combine county and city governments: Anaconda with Deer Lodge County and Butte with Silver Bow County . The portion of Yellowstone National Park that is in Montana was not assigned to a county until 1997. That year the part was formally assigned to Gallatin Counties and Park Counties .
The official abbreviation of Montana is MT , the FIPS state code is 30 .
