history
The first European-American company in Plentywood was founded in 1900, and a post office was set up in the city two years later. 1912 followed the official establishment and Plentywood was connected to the railway network of the Great Northern Railway . The place was named after the nearby Plentywood Creek. According to tradition, this creek in turn got its name when a group of cowboys saw the cook of their food truck trying to light a fire with cow dung. Then to one of the Cowboys have said to him, "If you'll go two miles up this creek, you'll find plenty wood ", in German as: "If you go this valley two miles upstream, you will plenty of wood found .
