Mineral County is a county in the state of Montana in the United States . The county seat is in Superior .

The county had a population of 3,884 people as of the 2000 census . There were 1,584 households and 1,067 families. The population density was 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 94.57% White, 0.21% African American, 1.93% Native American, 0.51% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, and 0.26% other races Groups; 2.50% were from two or more races. 1.57% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 1,584 households, 27.70% had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 57.70% were married couples living together, 6.0% were single mothers. 32.60% were not families. 26.60% are single households and 8.20% have someone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size was 2.90.

For the entire county, the population was composed of 24.30% of residents under 18 years of age, 6.40% between 18 and 24 years of age, 25.30% between 25 and 44 years of age, 29.80% between 45 and 64 years of age 14.20% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 106.20 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 105.60 males.

The median income for a household in the 27,143 USD , and the median income for a family was 32,096 USD. Males had a median income of $ 26,782 versus $ 18,258 for females. The per capita income was $ 15,166. 15.80% of the population and 12.80% of families are below the poverty line. 18.70% of these were under 18 years of age and 8.50% were 65 years of age or older.
