Valley County is a county in the state of Montana in the United States . The county seat is in Glasgow .

According to the 2000 census , the county had 7,675 people. There were 3,150 households and 2,129 families. The population density was 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 88.14% White, 0.13% African American, 9.42% Native American, 0.25% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, and 0.26% other races Groups; 1.79% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 0.78% of the population.

Of the 3,150 households, 29.70% had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 55.50% were married couples living together, 8.20% were single mothers. 32.40% were not families. 29.30% are single households and 12.00% have someone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.93.

For the entire county, the population was composed of 25.10% residents under 18 years of age, 6.00% between 18 and 24 years of age, 24.30% between 25 and 44 years of age, 25.60% between 45 and 64 years of age 19.00% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 98.20 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 95.10 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $ 30,979 , and the median income for a family was $ 39,044. Males had a median income of $ 27,233 versus $ 17,686 for females. The per capita income was $ 16,246. 13.50% of the population and 9.50% of families are below the poverty line. 15.40% of them were under 18 years of age and 14.40% were 65 years of age or older.
