Roosevelt County is a county in the state of Montana in the United States . The county seat is in Wolf Point .

As of the 2000 census , the county had a population of 22,920. There were 3,581 households and 2,614 families. The population density was 2 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 40.93% White, 0.05% African American, 55.75% Native American, 0.43% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, and 0.25% other races Groups; 2.53% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 1.23% of the population.
Of the 3,581 households, 40.50% had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 47.20% were married couples living together, 18.90% were single mothers. 27.00% were not families. 23.60% are single households and 10.30% have someone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.89 and the average family size was 3.40.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 34.60% of residents under the age of 18, 7.90% between 18 and 24 years of age, 25.80% between 25 and 44 years of age, and 20.20% between 45 and 64 years of age 11.60% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 98.30 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 93.70 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 24,834 , and the median income for a family is $ 27,833. Males had a median income of $ 25,177 versus $ 19,728 for females. The per capita income was $ 11,347. 32.40% of the population and 27.60% of families are below the poverty line. 41.60% of these were under 18 years of age and 15.10% were 65 years of age or older.

In Roosevelt County there is a national battlefield , the Big Hole National Battlefield , which also has the status of a National Historic Landmark . Two places in the county are on the National Register of Historic Places as of February 7, 2018.
