history
Thompson Falls is named after the British-Canadian explorer, geographer and fur trader David Thompson . With the connection to the railway network in 1881, the city began to develop. When nearby Coeur d'Alene was hit by the gold rush two years later , the town grew to accommodate the men who walked to the mines via the Murray Trail. In 1910, Thompson Falls was officially established.
