Ramsey County is a county in the state of North Dakota in the United States . The county seat is Devils Lake .

The county is located in the northeast of North Dakota and has an area of ​​3369 square kilometers, of which 301 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Cavalier County , Walsh County , Nelson County , Benson County, and Towner County .

history

Ramsey County was formed in 1873. It was named after Alexander Ramsey , a US Senator from Minnesota .

As of the 2000 census , Ramsey County had 12,066 people in 4,957 households and 3,187 families. The population density was 4 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 92.31 percent white, 0.21 percent African American, 5.40 percent Native American, 0.26 percent Asian, 0.02 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.17 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.64 percent were descended from two or more races.
