The Dunn County is a county in the state of North Dakota of the United States . The county seat is Manning .

The county is located in west-central North Dakota and has an area of ​​5393 square kilometers, of which 188 square kilometers are water. It is bordered by counties in a clockwise direction: Mountrail County , McLean County , Mercer County , Stark County , Billings County, and McKenzie Counties .

history

Dunn County was formed on March 9, 1883 and dissolved in 1896. On May 24, 1901, the county was created again and finally organized on February 10, 1908. It was named after John P. Dunn , an early political leader and mayor of Bismarck .

As of the 2000 census , Dunn County had 3,600 people in 1,378 households and 986 families. The population density was 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 86.58 percent white, 0.03 percent African American, 12.44 percent Native American and 0.08 percent Asian.
