Benson County is a county in the state of North Dakota in the United States . The county seat is Minnewaukan .

The county is located in the northeast of North Dakota and has an area of ​​3728 square kilometers, of which 152 square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Towner County , Ramsey County , Nelson County , Eddy County , Wells County, and Pierce Counties .

history

Benson County was formed in 1883. It was named after Bertil W. Benson , an early politician in the Dakota Territory.

Seven structures and sites in the county are on the National Register of Historic Places (as of March 19, 2018).
