The LF-109 Pionyr is a glider designed by Vladimír Štros from the Czech manufacturer LET.

It was planned as a training two-seater and had its maiden flight (as a prototype XLF-109) in March 1950. The aircraft was a simple and robust construction consisting of a fabric-covered tubular steel fuselage and a wooden control and supporting structure with good flight characteristics. A total of about 470 pieces were built, with further modified copies (all-metal construction and known as KAI-12 "Primoryez") also being produced under license in the Soviet Union from 1957.

38 LF-109s were exported to the GDR from 1953 and were used there by the GST for beginner training until 1965 .
