The white List West lighthouse is located on Sylt's Ellenbogen peninsula . It was built by the Kingdom of Denmark and is not only the northernmost lighthouse, but also the northernmost building in Germany . It is also the oldest lighthouse on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein and the first cast iron lighthouse in Germany.

Today's electrically operated guide and orientation light is equipped with a metal halide lamp of 230 V / 250 W and has been remote-controlled since 1977. The identifier is an interruption of the light every six seconds (Ubr. 6 s), generated by a rotating screen. An ascent or a visit is not possible.

List West has a twin tower List Ost , which was put into service at the same time and is slightly higher at 13.6 m.
