Leukosialin (synonymous CD43 ) is a surface protein from the group of cell adhesion molecules .
properties
Leukosialin is produced by thymocytes , T lymphocytes , neutrophils , plasma cells and myelomas . It is glycosylated and phosphorylated . Leukosialin presents carbohydrates for selectins . When T-lymphocytes are activated, leukosialin is sorted out from the contact surface with the antigen-presenting cell . It is the most abundant surface protein on the cell surface of T lymphocytes and neutrophils.
