People (talk show)
People is a talk show on the radio program of the Südwestrundfunk (SWR). The two-hour program was broadcast on SDR 3 from Monday to Saturday between 10:05 and 12 noon from 1988 to 1998 , and since the merger of Süddeutscher Rundfunk (SDR) and Südwestfunk (SWF) into SWR it has been broadcast on the same slot on SWR1 Baden-Württemberg , on Sundays on SWR1 Rhineland-Palatinate .
Emergence
The first episode was broadcast on January 7, 1985 under the title “From 10 to 12” and moderated by Wolf Renschke, then the program ran daily from 10:05 am to 12 noon under the title Guests in the Studio . In 1988, Wolfgang Heim and Stefan Siller developed the concept of the show, which still exists today, which was first broadcast in 1988 under the title People . Heim and Siller are or have been moderators and editors of the show since then.
For several years, people was also broadcast on SWR television's night program as a recording under the title SWR People night . In addition, the program will be broadcast from 8:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. (Saturdays 2:32 p.m. to 2:58 p.m., 3:32 p.m. to 3:58 p.m., 5:32 p.m. to 5:58 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays 8:03 a.m. to 9 a.m., 10 : 32 to 10:58 a.m., 7:32 p.m. to 7:58 p.m. and 10:05 a.m. to 11 p.m.) on SWRinfo . Since the beginning of the 1990s, a compilation of the interviews for one year has been published as a sound carrier under the title Best of People .
Concept and moderation
In the program, interrupted by news and music, mostly celebrities from science, culture, politics, sport, but also other guests with interesting biographies are interviewed. Most of the discussions take place in the SWR broadcasting house and are broadcast live. The interviews are occasionally conducted in front of an invited audience in the restaurant of the Stuttgart TV tower . In rare cases, conversations with celebrities at their place of residence are recorded and broadcast at a later time.
By April 2009, almost 5,500 people were guests at Stefan Siller or Wolfgang Heim . Hans-Peter Archner , Matthias Holtmann , Michel Ries , Günter Schneidewind and Petra Zundel are also responsible for individual discussions . The Sunday program on SWR 1 Baden-Württemberg is called People of the Week and is presented by Stefan Siller or Wolfgang Heim. The people broadcast in SWR1 Rhineland-Palatinate is directed by changing moderators. By the 30th anniversary in January 2015, over 8,000 guests were interviewed.
Stefan Siller left his work at SWR at the end of 2015. In his last broadcast on December 23, he was interviewed by his colleague Wolfgang Heim. His successor in the team of people is Nicole Köster .
Awards
In 2007, Wolfgang Heim was awarded the journalist prize of the victim protection organization Weißer Ring for the episode The End of Family Happiness .
