Leuze electronic , based in the town of Owen in Baden-Württemberg, is a German manufacturer of sensor solutions for industrial automation.

history

Leuze electronic was founded in Owen on January 1st, 1963 and the first sensors were developed for their own textile machines. From 1977 onwards, the newly founded subsidiary Leuze electronic assembly GmbH in Unterstadion took over the production of electronic assemblies within the group.

In 1981, the first subsidiary in other European countries was founded in Switzerland under the name Leuze electronic AG.

In the following years from 1982 onwards, further locations were established in Europe, including France, Spain and Great Britain.

Another milestone in the history of Leuze electronic was the establishment of the first subsidiaries on the American continent in the USA and Brazil in 1994. A few years later, the company was further internationalized in 1999 with a subsidiary in Australia and in 2002 with a subsidiary in South Korea.

In 2004 a sales office was opened in Shanghai / China, followed by the establishment of a production facility in Shenzhen in 2006 .

The youngest subsidiary of Leuze electronic is Leuze electronic Pvt Ltd., founded in 2012. in India.

At the third German location next to the company headquarters in Owen and the production location in Unterstadion in Germering near Munich, engineering for safety products from Leuze electronic takes place today.

Business activity

Leuze electronic develops and produces optical sensors for electrical automation and is active in the fields of machine and system construction, intralogistics, packaging and medical technology. Over 1000 employees at 22 locations worldwide work in development, production, sales and service for the company. In addition, around 40 distributors are active for Leuze electronic worldwide.

The portfolio includes switching and measuring sensors, identification systems, solutions for image processing and data transmission as well as components and systems for occupational safety.
