Levin Pouchenius

Levin Pouchenius (born October 26, 1594 in Königsberg (Prussia) ; † May 4, 1648 ibid) was a Lutheran theologian and university professor in Königsberg.

Life

His father was the Königsberg cathedral pastor Andreas Pouchenius the Younger . Levin first studied philosophy and theology at the University of Königsberg before moving to the University of Wittenberg for five years , where he completed his studies with a master's degree in 1620. Back in Koenigsberg he became an associate professor of metaphysics in 1621, adjoint in 1622, from 1631 a real court preacher and in 1626 a full professor of logic and metaphysics. For a time he was professor of Hebrew. In 1640 he was the first to be awarded a Dr. theol. received his doctorate and professorship for theology. In 1645 he gave the university anniversary speech. In 1648 he was court preacher in Königsberg for a few months before his death.

Levin Pouchenius was married to Catharina Francke (1600-1654).
