Map of the Tangra Mountains with the Levski Ridge |
Levski Ridge ( Bulgarian хребет Левски chrebet Lewski ) is an 8 km long mountain ridge on Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is the central mountain range of the Tangra Mountains and rises between the Shipka Saddle in the west to the Devin Saddle in the east. To the north it borders on the Huron Glacier , to the southwest on the Macy and Bojana Glaciers, and to the southeast on the Srebarna and Magura Glaciers .
Maps were made in 1968 by British scientists and in 1980 by Argentine scientists. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2002. Its name is derived from that of Levski Peak , which is named after the Bulgarian freedom fighter Wassil Lewski (1837–1873).
