Lewis Martin (born November 1, 1894 in San Francisco , California - February 21, 1969 in Los Angeles , California) was an American actor .

life and career

Lewis Martin made his Broadway debut in 1925 with the play Lucky Sam McCarver . His career there proved to be long and successful, with a total of 16 productions up to 1950. It was not until 1949 that Martin made his first appearances in film and television. Most of the time he impersonated figures like priests, military commanders, police officers, journalists and doctors in smaller supporting roles. He has worked in almost every genre, his best-known films include Reporter of Satan , Clash of the Worlds , The Court Jester and Diary of a Murderer .

In the 1960s, Martin played mostly in television series. He was seen in the series The Second Man , Mister Ed , Tarzan and Perry Mason in guest roles. Martin's last film was a murderer's diary in which he played a supporting role as a pastor. After appearing in two episodes of the Tarzan series, Martin ended his acting career in 1967. He died on February 21, 1969 in Los Angeles of a heart attack .
