history
The third generation of the Lexus LS was presented at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in early 2000 . The only version offered is a 4.3-liter V8 petrol engine, which replaces the 4-liter V8 that had previously been used since the LS was introduced in autumn 1989. The sales description is also based on this. It was the first Lexus with adaptive cruise control (Dynamic Laser Cruise Control, based on Lidar ), an emergency call system, and Keyless Go .
With the Lexus UCF31 , the revised model of the LS came onto the market in autumn 2003.
A new six-speed automatic transmission, some visual changes and technical innovations were introduced. The front and rear have been changed and adaptive headlights have been introduced, which adapt to the steering angle. In addition, there were LED rear lights and changed wheel dimensions. Inside, knee airbags were introduced, illuminated mirrors in the rear and modified interior trim.
New optional equipment was a revised navigation device, Bluetooth , reversing camera , a radar-based adaptive cruise control and a collision warning (first generation of the radar-based pre-crash safety system PCS). A programmable unit inside the vehicle now automatically recognizes the electronic ignition key and unlocks the doors when touched ( Keyless Go ).
The new headlights were now drawn less far into the fenders, and the indicators were more inconspicuously integrated into them.
