Leylâ Saz

Leylâ Saz (also Leila Hanım or Leila Hanoum ; * 1850 in Istanbul ; † December 6, 1936 there ) was a Turkish composer .

Leylâ Saz received training in traditional Turkish and European music and piano playing . She lived as a poet and composer in Istanbul. She composed over two hundred instrumental and vocal works in the style of traditional Turkish art music , which, however , are influenced by European music and is one of the pioneers of modern Turkish music.
