Lhotka (Ovčáry)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lhotka is a desert in the municipality of Ovčáry in Okres Kolín , Czech Republic .

location

Lhotka is located east of Ovčáry on Hluboký potok. The educational trail “Kámen mudrců” leads through the desert from the Horka Ekozentrum to Písečný Mlýn.

history

Minor Lhota was first mentioned in a document in 1273 in a document of protection from Pope Gregory X. for the villages of the Strahov monastery . The Strahover Urbar from 1410 lists a manorial farm with an administrator and seven farmers for Lhotka. Later the farm became the property of Vítek von Turovice, who had a pond built. When, at the beginning of the Hussite Wars, a Hungarian mercenary army of King Sigismund devastated the area north of Kolín at the end of 1420 , Lhotka became extinct.

In 1936, František Dvořák described the desert under the name Na Zámkách and assigned it to an indefinite period of fortifications .

The remains of the dam at Hluboký potok have been preserved.

At the beginning of the 20th century a memorial stone for a man from Býchory who was struck by lightning was erected near Lhotka . The memorial stone was knocked over by farmers in the 1950s and covered with earth. At the beginning of the 1980s, the painter and illustrator František Karel Foltýn rediscovered the stone, he had it put up again in 1987 and planted a linden tree next to it. Since 2001 there has been a cross made of greenish black amphibolite by Kolín stonemason Ivan Erben under the Foltýn linden tree, which is supposed to represent a weeping Christ.
